Project 1 Contextual Study Sketch Journal of a Traditional Street
This project was given to us to study the tangible and intangible history of some of the traditional streets in Malaysia. We needed to anylize the architecture and culture in the street and compile everything into a sketch journal.
This assignment allowed us to learn more about the tangible and intangible history of asian architecture and its culture in Malaysia. We learned about the damages and factors causing history to be lost in our current modern times and how we may potentially resolve or to find a way to preserve the history before its too late as once its lost it can never be brought back.
Project 2 Poster and Seminar-Contemporary Issues in Asian Architecture
For assignment 2, we were put into groups and we had to work together to identify a theme regarding the conservation of asian architecture in traditional streets in Malaysia. We then choose our specific theme and research and anylize about it to come up with solutions to the problem with the help of information in the previous assignment. A poster was made to show our research and analysis of the project.
This assignmnet has allowed us to better look into the history in traditional streets in Malaysia and further helped us to understand the dangers, risk and factors that affects the extinction of the historical buildings and culture in Malaysia streets. We were also able to come up with potential solutions to the matter by reusing old building to be repurpose for a different purpose but still maintaining its historical values and aesthetics.
